Our Field Trip to the Public Library
Torah Academy's ninth field trip the year was an excursion to the Vernon Area Public Library, where we received a librarian's private tour of the different departments, a special visit behind the circulation desk, and even a brief peek at the librarians lounge. Also of interest was the graphics department, where posters are created by their own staff, and special reading of two children's books and a audiovisual presentation of a third book. We learned about library cards and how to find books depending on whether they are fiction (spine label alphabetically by author's name) or non-fiction (numbered by subject). Before we went back to school we each received a special animal bookmark to use in our own reading!
